Win Over Bucks; Loss to Wave
(Bradford, ON; February 13th, 2012)

Entering the final weekend of regular season action, the Bradford Rattlers are sitting tied for third place with a record of 27-6-5. This past weekend, the Rattlers played two games resulting in a loss to the Lefroy Wave and a victory over the Bobcaygeon Bucks. With 4 games remaining, it is crucial that Bradford battles out Elliot Lake as only the top 3 teams get byes past the first round of the playoffs.

A Friday night game against the Lefroy Wave not only resulted in a loss, but Bradford lost Joseph Gatti and Travis White for their home game on Sunday. Gatti is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with an injury. Lefroy opened the game with 4 straight goals over the first and second period. Bradford’s battle back came up just short, as the Wave were able to add another goal in the third, handing Bradford a 5-3 loss. Bird stood between the pipes for Bradford, while Gatti, Bangert and Buwalda scored goals that game.

At home for a Sunday evening game, Bradford got back on the winning track with a 5-2 victory over the Bobcaygeon Bucks. In Bird’s second start of the weekend, he made 28 saves onroute to his 10th win of the season. Bradford’s 3 unanswered goals were enough to hold off the Bucks and grab a 5-2 victory.  Captain Myles Nuenker led the Rattlers offensively with a 3 point performance. Smith’s 2 goal performance brings him to the 60 point plateau, for the team lead in both goals and total points
