Rattlers Off-Season News, Notes and Signings

The Bradford Rattlers have several announcements to make regarding the organization, including NCAA commitments, Pro Signings and tryouts, as well as player signings for the 2012-2013 season.

The Rattlers are excited to announce a handful of the new players that will be dawning a Rattler uniform. A pair of brothers has been picked up from the Syracuse Stampede Junior A club in the USA. Ville Virtanen and Aki Virtanen will be the newest Rattlers to join the squad. In addition, Lukas Sundberg will be joining the team. Sundberg has played professionally in Sweden and played Junior A in the states last season. Several more player signings will be confirmed in the coming weeks, some of which will expected to be top-end talent in the league.

Another NCAA commitment has been made official over the past week. Rattler defenseman Jonathan Nilsson will be joining teammate Travis White at New England College (NCAA) for next season. Nilsson led Rattler defenseman in scoring last season with 34 points in 38 games. The 6’2” defenseman completed an excellent rookie season in Bradford where he received several NCAA and Pro offers, but felt New England College offered the best program for him.

General Manager Johan Lundskog also confirmed that goaltender Viktor Ahlund has signed professionally in Sweden Div 2 . Ahlund played in 5 games for the Rattlers last season, behind Bird and Sutherland. Viktor had a 2.61GAA and .920save% in limited action last season.

Lundskog also added that atleast 6 Rattler Alumni are participating in ECHL Camps over the rest of the summer. Names and teams of these players will be released shortly.
